operational efficiency & rationalization of assets

For Cogenta Energy, co-founder Alex A. Bucher, a career in the trenches of the oil and gas industry began early - working on offshore rigs before celebrating his twentieth birthday. By the time he completed a degree in mechanical engineering, Bucher had already begun work as an assistant engineer at Texaco and had chosen the oil and gas industry in which to invest his leadership, talents and life's work.

Now, with over 34 years of extensive experience and leadership, primarily in the midstream sector, Bucher is one of the founding partners of another company that is positioned to make a significant impact in the midstream arena, well into the twenty-first century.

Bucher launched his post-college career with Texaco Inc., as an Engineer where he designed and installed compressor stations, amine treaters, pipelines, and metering and dehydration facilities. In 1982 he joined Texas Oil and Gas, where his positions ranged from Manager of Ozark Gas Pipeline to Manager of Delhi's East Texas and West Texas Regional Operations. Bucher joined Dynegy, Inc., in 1995 as Vice President and Regional Manager of the Gulf Coast Region. At Dynegy, he led all commercial and operational aspects of the Gulf Coast region including gas supply, acquisitions, interconnects, operations, technical support, and revenue accounting.

In 1999, Bucher joined Midcoast (Enbridge, Inc.) as Vice President of Operations and Technical Services, eventually becoming Director of Business Development. In less than an eight month period, he generated, negotiated, evaluated and/or closed in excess of $400 million of acquisitions, including acquisition of East Texas Assets and South Texas Assets and South Louisiana Assets.

In June 2002, Schnepp co-founded Eagle Rock Energy. To this day, Bucher and Schnepp credit the company's solid foundation and early success to the breadth of its team's collective experience and knowledge. "We believe that Eagle Rock's success was due to two primary factors: a clearly identified set of common values and the ability to draw simple solutions from a complex level of understanding." Over the course of their careers, Bucher and Schnepp leave behind a wake of success. This success has primarily been through improvements to operational efficiencies and rationalization of assets.

In September 2007, Alex A. Bucher and Joan A.W. Schnepp once again teamed up and began the new midstream venture of Cogenta Energy. Cogenta prides itself on a company culture of open communication and immediate accessibility.
