With more than 21 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, Joan A.W. Schnepp has earned a sterling reputation for leadership, responsibility and what Cogenta Energy's co-founding partner Alex A. Bucher calls "flawless judgment." Cogenta clients turn to Schnepp for the combination of her sage wisdom and her responsive "no challenge too big" approach to problem solving.
"Joan is a listener," says Bucher. "She has a low-key approachable demeanor backed by a dynamic, tenacious spirit. She is not the kind of person who waits for doors to open. Joan identifies the right path for Cogenta and its clients, and if there is no door, she creates one."
As founding partner, Schnepp manages all of the daily functions of Cogenta operations. The remarkable open and effective nature of her working partnership with Alex A. Bucher is the foundation upon which the highly specialized Cogenta team is built.
Prior to co-founding Cogenta Energy in September 2007, Schnepp spent over 21 years serving in increasingly responsible positions in the oil and gas industry. Beginning her career at GasTrak as Manager of Operations, she was responsible for all operational aspects of marketing, supply and transportation. In 1993, Schnepp joined Kansas Pipeline Operating Company. Successive promotions placed Schnepp in the position of Vice President of Operations. In that role, she oversaw all pipeline operations, compression, gas control, gas measurement, transportation and gas supply contract negotiation. Schnepp was also responsible for the Kansas Pipeline marketing affiliate, MarGasCo, presiding over direct and third party marketing activities. In 1999, Schnepp joined Midcoast (Enbridge, Inc.) as Vice President of Revenue Management, overseeing the company's revenue and volume management teams.
In June 2002, Schnepp co-founded Eagle Rock Energy. To this day, Bucher and Schnepp credit the company's solid foundation and early success to the breadth of its team's collective experience and knowledge. "We believe that Eagle Rock’s success was due to two primary factors: a clearly identified set of common values and the ability to draw simple solutions from a complex level of understanding." Over the course of their careers, Bucher and Schnepp leave behind a wake of success. This success has primarily been through improvements to operational efficiencies and rationalization of assets.
Together with co-founder Alex A. Bucher, Schnepp leads the Cogenta team with a sense of responsible, informed decision-making; deep and broad knowledge of the oil and gas industry; and an intimate working knowledge of each of Cogenta's clients' needs, goals and objectives.
In September 2007, Joan A.W. Schnepp and Alex A. Bucher once again teamed up and began the new midstream venture of Cogenta Energy. Cogenta prides itself on a company culture of open communication and immediate accessibility.
